Educational Visits

Educational Visits To Caithness Horizons Museum

Caithness Horizons welcomes both primary and secondary school visits. The Museum offers led workshops on the key elements of its Collection: Picts, Vikings, Robert Dick and Dounreay.  Schools are also welcome on self-guided visits.  Please note that we offer educational visits free of charge, we simply ask that you call ahead to plan your visit with us.

If pre-arranged, we can offer a facility for pupils to enjoy a snack before heading back to school or we can provide pupils with a snack from our Cafe for a small charge.

What options are available for a visit?

Schools can choose to visit the Museum as:

  • A self-guided visit
  • A self-guided visit with a handling box
  • A workshop
  • An exhibition visit

Sometimes, when we host temporary exhibitions we'll invite school children to visit us to learn about that particular exhibition.  Click here to see what we got up to with young people during the ARTIST ROOMS: Johan Grimonprez exhibitions.  We enjoyed workshops with Mike guest, a photographer and filmaker.
